Personalised jewellery is made just for you, which is part of what makes it so special — but it also means it takes a little longer to reach your doorstep than something pulled straight off a shelf. If you're planning ahead for a birthday, anniversary, or simply treating yourself, here's exactly how long to allow so your piece arrives right on time.
Two stages, not one number
Every order at Lumière & Co goes through two separate stages, and it helps to think of them that way rather than as a single delivery estimate:
1. Production: 3–5 business days
Because each piece is made to order — engraved, set or finished especially for you — our workshop needs 3 to 5 business days before your order is ready to leave us. This is what makes a name necklace or initial necklace feel truly personal, but it does mean production happens before the clock even starts on shipping.
2. Shipping: however long your chosen courier takes
Once your order leaves our workshop, it's over to the courier. At checkout, you'll choose the shipping option that suits you best.
UK delivery times, start to finish
Here's what to expect for each UK shipping option, once production is included:
- Royal Mail Tracked 48 (free): 2–4 business days in transit, so 5–9 business days in total from order to doorstep.
- Royal Mail Tracked 24 (£3.95): 1–2 business days in transit, so 4–6 business days in total.
- Royal Mail Special Delivery (£9.90): next business day, so 4–6 business days in total — our fastest option, ideal if you're cutting it close.
Shipping to the USA
For orders heading to the United States, we ship via USPS Tracked (free), which takes 5–7 business days in transit. Added to our 3–5 day production time, that's 8–12 business days from order to arrival — so it's well worth building in a little extra buffer for occasions with a fixed date.
So, how far in advance should you order?
As a simple rule of thumb: for a UK gift, order at least a week to ten days ahead if you're using our free Tracked 48 service, or a few days ahead if you need Special Delivery. For a US gift, aim to order at least two weeks before the date you need it. Business days don't include weekends or bank holidays, so if your occasion falls just after one, add a day or two of extra breathing room.
A gift that's worth the wait
Whether it's a birthstone necklace for a milestone birthday, a bracelet for someone who means the world to you, or a piece from our wider necklace collection, personalised jewellery is one of those gifts that feels like it was chosen with real thought — because it was, down to the last letter or stone. A few extra days for production is a small price to pay for something made just for them. If you're working to a deadline, pop the date in at checkout and choose the shipping option that gets it there in time — we're always happy to help if you're not sure which to pick.
